The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued a high-intensity rainfall warning for several areas in Hyderabad, cautioning residents about potential cloudburst-like conditions on Thursday evening.

According to GHMC officials, areas such as Kukatpally, Secunderabad, Mehdipatnam, Serilingampally, and Patancheru could receive between 80–100 mm of rainfall within a single hour—a volume nearing cloudburst levels. This could result in waterlogging, traffic disruption, and flash floods in low-lying areas.

“My hands are shivering while I type this message,” a local weather enthusiast wrote, underlining the seriousness of the situation.

What to Expect:

Rainfall of 25–40 mm is forecast across various localities in the next two hours.

  • Strong thunderstorms are expected to develop later tonight.
  • Cloudburst-like conditions are likely in select areas.

Advisory for Residents:

  • Avoid non-essential travel
  • Stay clear of waterlogged or flood-prone zones
  • Keep emergency supplies like flashlights, power banks, clean water, and essential medicines ready

Emergency Measures:

  • Disaster response teams have been placed on high alert
  • Citizens are urged to stay updated through official GHMC channels
